Privacy policy

Effective 30 October 2026.

What we collect

Nothing. No accounts, no sign-in, no analytics, no telemetry, no crash reports, no advertising, no tracking, and no third-party SDKs that collect data. We never see what you read, search or ask.

What stays on your device

Your library, searches, questions, answers, notes and settings stay on your iPhone, Android device or Mac.

When the app uses the network

Only when you start a download, and only for that file, unless you enable optional online AI as described below. Library packs come from the Kiwix project's download servers (mirror.download.kiwix.org). Offline maps come from zerodarkfall.com/maps. AI models come from the sources listed in the app (on a Mac, the Ollama registry). Those servers see your IP address, as any web server does, and the request for the file. Each file is checked against a SHA-256 before it is used.

Optional online AI

Off by default. If you turn it on, your question and the library passages sent with it go to the provider you choose (Anthropic, or Protostar AI's service) over an encrypted connection, and that provider's privacy policy applies. Your API key is stored in your device's secure keychain, never on our servers. Turn it off and nothing is sent.

This website

No cookies, no trackers, no third-party scripts. The site's own code runs in your browser to move between pages and sends nothing back. Our host (Amazon CloudFront) keeps standard server logs for security and operations.

Children

The app collects no personal information from anyone, including children under 13.

Changes

We post changes here with a new effective date.
